Two college courses will be taught during the fall 2013 semester on the Kanu o Ka Aina Public Charter School campus in Waimea.
The classes are Hawaiian Studies 100: Piko Hawaii, scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays, and Speech 151: Speech & Communication, scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

’70s dance Sunday

Radio enthusiasts meeting Sunday
The Kona Amateur Radio Society meets from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the south end of Wawaloli Beach Park at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority.
The meeting is open to members, friends and anyone interested in amateur radio. Attendees are encouraged to bring a Mexican food dish to share at a potluck held during the meeting.

Father’s Day run slated Sunday in Waimea
The Waimea Preservation Association’s Waimea Honoring Father’s Day Fun Walk/Run begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Waimea Preservation Cottage, 67-1201 Mamalahoa Highway. Register in-person between 7 and 7:45 a.m. Sunday at the cottage.
The three-mile route winds from the cottage behind Parker Ranch Shopping Center, south on Pukalani Road to Mamalahoa Highway, and back. Refreshments will be offered and prizes awarded after the activity. Participants may bring copies of photos or stories of fathers in their life to display inside the Waimea Preservation Cottage.

Tropical fruit growers meeting Monday
The Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers West Hawaii chapter meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the University of Hawaii Experiment Station in Kainaliu, across from Aloha Theatre. Nonmembers are welcome to attend.

Game management videoconference planned Monday
A Game Management Advisory Commission for the purpose of advising county, state and federal agencies on matters related to the preservation of subsistence hunting and fishing, as well as protecting traditional and cultural gathering rights, will hold its meeting via videoconference at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Members will be present at the Hawaii County Building in Hilo and at the West Hawaii Civic Center’s Council conference room, Building A.

Summer math instruction offered
Big Island Education is offering summer math instruction from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, June 17 to July 4, and July 5, in a meeting room at the Regency at Hualalai in Kailua-Kona. discuss ‘Cleopatra’
The Kona Library Book Club meets at 11 a.m. Tuesday on the Kailua-Kona Public Library lanai to discuss “Cleopatra” by Stacey Schiff. The author paints Cleopatra as a shrewd power broker who used her manifold gifts to negotiate advantageous political deals and military alliances. New members are welcome to participate in lively discussion; light refreshments are served.
